In my furthering my small scale sculptures the thught occurred to me that rather than forming the sculptures from the outside, why not make them from the inside? (i will add here the sculptor Brendon Hesmondhalg and Lliadin Cooke have been highly informative of this) Using a very light blue foam i have been attempting to make a cast to pour wax into. I have done this on several occasions previous and each time it has worked. Bearing in mind that i used clay rather than blue foam (which i will add here has the density of balsa wood).
On these occasions however I feel the blue foam has hindered the quality of the plaster and caused it to crumble and bubble. Or, the wiley old man that sold me the plaster has gotten it contaminated in some way, mixed it with flour....i do hope its not self raising....
The likelyhood is the first of course and instead its been one of the crafty studens who gave me the foam :( Still its good to build on.
